Oak trees have been growing in the north west of Spain and Portugal for hundreds of years. Currently up to 10% of the forest area of the region is covered with this specie offering a firewood which is probably the best one to feed a fireplace: the higher calorific power, the lower emissions of smoke and most easy wood to burn.
Oak firewood is traditionally collected from old trees and cut in short pieces. Their dimensions and also the cut direction are especially suitable to feed the fireplace and to improve burning. stgwood can also provide other formats such as chips for pellet industry.
The main advantages of Oak firewood supplied by stgwood are:
- Firewood directly collected from old trees and therefore with higher density. As no reclaimed wood is used we guaranty 100% creosote free firewood.
- Optimal length, which is between 35 and 45cms (14 to 18 inches).
- Optimal diameter, which is between 7 and 15cms (3 to 6 inches).
- Moisture content checked to fit the customer requirements, no matter if firewood is seasoned or just green. Note that even if seasoning is recommended in order to improve the heat-content of the firewood for every specie, Oak firewood is especially sensitive to this question.
